Cole Richards Sweeps ECSC, Virginia Beach


East Coast Champion from Garden City (press release)
Last week Aug. 24th -Aug 28th the 43rd annual East Coast Surfing Championship was held in Virginia Beach, VA. Cole Richards and the rest of the Perfection Surfboard team went up to dominate the competition. The competition is the oldest surf contest in North America and has over 980 competitors from all over the east and west coast. Cole Richards, age 13 and student at St James Middle school ran the gauntlet. Competing in boys short board, boys long board and Men's open event. Cole won first place in all. Men's open included all the male competitors from every division. Ken Hunt of Billabong said "this is history in the making". No kid has ever won first in all three. Cole Richards is son of world renowned surfboard shaper Kelly Richards. Kelly owns The Village surf shop and makes the Perfection surfboards. Kelly's other son Cam also competed and received second in his division. The Perfection team of winners also included Pro surfer Tony Silvani. Who ended up winning first in the Long board Pro with a purse of $2500.00.The winning still on fire, little twelve year old Keenan Lineback wins first in Jr. Women's event and 5th in Women's Pro. All riding Perfection Surfboards. The Village Surf Shoppe and Perfection surfboards proudly sponsors many kids and adult in and out of the area.
